The Shumei International Institute will celebrate its 15th anniversary in May this year. This year’s anniversary theme is “Ecology and Spirituality—Think Globally, Act Locally”. The anniversary event will be a one day event starting at 10:30 AM on Saturday May 20, with an Anniversary Sampai officiated by Sensei Tamao Koyama joining us from Shumei’s headquarters in Japan.
Shumei is very pleased to announce that Satish Kumar, Indian Activist, Editor of Resurgence Magazine and founder of Schumacher College in the UK will be our special guest at this year’s anniversary.
There will be a public luncheon, special art exhibition, garden tours, taiko concert and an interactive presentation after lunch with Satish Kumar. The day’s festivities will end with Shumei’s traditional World Peace Prayer Sampai starting at 5:30 PM during which Shumei centers from around the world join hearts and minds with a common intention for peace with us in Crestone.
Sunday, Shumei will host a greater Crestone community sponsored event—“A Day of Peace and Action”. This event will be a follow up to the Crestone Baca Resiliency Conference that took place March 24 – 26. There will be an art exhibition and an opportunity to meet artists Deborah Lomas who will be visiting Crestone with some examples of her art from the UK.
We hope you will join us in celebrating 15 years in the Crestone Community.
