The Shumei International Institute celebrates its 16th anniversary in May this year. This year’s anniversary theme is “Seeds of World Citizenship”. The anniversary event will take place on May 19th and 20th 2018 this year. Saturday starts with Taiko and a Concert with world premier Native American flue player R. Carlos Nakai and his percussionist Will Clipman followed by a World Peace Prayer Sampai.
Sundays Anniversary events start with a Sampai officiated by Sensei Tamao Koyama joining us from Shumei’s headquarters in Japan. There will be a public luncheon, art exhibition, open garden tours and a presentation after lunch with Ken Greene of the Hudson Valley Seed Company, a tireless advocate for seed sovereignty.
We hope you will join us in celebrating 16 years in the Crestone Community!
Please note all events start promptly at the times listed. Plan to arrive early in order to park, walk to event locations and for best seating. Some events fill to overflowing and parking on the high road is sometimes challenging and may require you to walk some distance. Please carpool as much as possible to assist us with traffic and parking congestion. Please let an attendant know if you need assistance to the venue, we are happy to help.
