Margaretta Gilboy - Artist Symposia, August 2nd (Sun) 3:00-5:00 PM

Margaretta Gilboy will exhibit watercolors and oils at Shumei International Institute in Crestone, Colorado from August 2nd to August 29th, 2009. A reception and gallery talk by the artist will take place in the gallery from 3 to 5pm on Sunday, August 2nd. Gilboy's paintings are still lifes exploring issues of personal and cultural identity, connection, and time. She creates these paintings by orchestrating objects and pictures into a still life set up in her studio. Gilboy then proceeds to paint what she sees, capturing the colors, forms and characters of all the objects in front of her and then integrating them into a harmonius whole. Still life genre provides her rich opportunities for expression, form, composition and narrative and the opportunity to share her vision with others.
Margaretta Giboy is represented by the Van Straaten Gallery in Denver, Colorado. Her work is included in many public collections, including The Denver Art Museum, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The University of Colorado's Colorado Collection, The State Museum of Pennsylvania, The Woodmere Museum.
