Greg Tanner Harris

Shumei International Institute, in collaboration with the Hazlerig Music House,

will host Greg Tanner Harris and Ido Ziv on Wed. July 28th at 7 PM.

With special guest and local favorite, Andy Skellenger.

Should weather permit, we will be in the beautiful Shumei Outdoor Amphitheater!!

$12 suggested donation and all proceeds benefit the artist

 

Harris leads the "Greg Harris Vibe Quintet," and from jazz to world music Harris is well respected as a Piano, Vibraphone, and Marimba player. In addition to performing, Greg is a passionate teacher, teaching music to young adults, elderly and people with disabilities. Greg also works on a grant-funded program called 'As the Crow Flies', a movement program that brings together youth, elders, and developmentally disabled adults to practice and perform improvisational music and dance. Greg has been an ensemble director for the Colorado Conservatory of Jazz Arts and co-director of ELGY productions, a multi-discipline company that focuses on original video, dance and music compositions.

Originally from Israel, Ido has studying traditional and folkloric styles since the age of nine. His traveled to various parts of the world to play and study with master musicians from Senegal, Mali, Guinea, Cuba, Brazil and Trinidad. Currently Ido explores the context in which the music manifests itself; how it can transform, describe, record, and change culture. Ido's music taps into the power of music to create change, promote tolerance and nourish an understanding of our humanity.
