Shumei presents the work of Bill Ellzey

Photographer, Bill Ellzey, will give a talk at Shumei International Institute Saturday, March 22 from 3 to 5 p.m.  His work is on exhibit in SII’s art pavilion through March and April.

Ellzey’s freelance photography career has taken him around the world on assignments and teaching workshops.  His work has been published nationally and internationally and is in many private collections.  One of his nighttime photographs in Egypt, the sphinx, pyramid and moon, was used on the cover of National Geographic Magazine. In addition to a wine and cheese reception, Ellzey will give an informal talk about photography in general and the new world of digital photography. He picked up the camera in 1965 and by 1972 was making a living with it.  In 1999 he bought a small pocket digital camera to see what the photo industry hubbub was all about.  Impressed with the ease and immediacy of seeing the picture, he bought a digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera and has not shot film since.

Ellzey is most willing to answer photography questions during the reception.

Shumei’s gallery is free and open to the public 7 days a week from 9-5 PM. To find out more about SII, or for directions to the gallery, call: 719-256-5284.
