The Shumei International Institute will celebrate its 16th anniversary in Crestone on this Saturday May 19thand Sunday May 20th. This years’ anniversary theme is “Seeds of World Citizenship”.  All events are free to the public.

Saturday Shumei hosts a Taiko performance with Grammy award winning Taiko Master Sensei Koji Nakamura. Following taiko, Shumei is excited to host a concert with world premiere performer of the Native American flute R. Carlos Nakai with Will Clipman on percussion. Sunday May 20th Shumei hosts an Anniversary Sampai officiated by Sensei Tamao Koyama joining us from Shumei’s headquarters in Japan. There will be a public luncheon, art exhibition open garden tours and a presentation after lunch with Ken Greene of the Hudson Valley Seed Company, a tireless advocate for seed sovereignty.
